• My parents, Jerry and Sarah Spalding, adopted me and my sister Christy when we were infants. Our family built a house in a rural area along Sugar Creek near the Town of New Palestine in 1972. My dad died when I was nine and mom raised our family as a single parent.
• Beginning with first grade, I attended Brandywine Elementary, Doe Creek Middle School and graduated from New Palestine High School where I was a three sport athlete. I went on to graduate from Indiana University – Bloomington with a Bachelor of Science degree in public affairs and minor in psychology.
• My longtime dream of becoming a state trooper was fulfilled when I was hired by the Indiana State Police in 1989. Currently, I’m a Sergeant assigned to the Indianapolis District where I oversee a squad of road patrol troopers. However, during the Indiana General Assembly legislative session, I provide security for the President Pro Tempore of the Indiana Senate.
• I am a member of Zion Lutheran Church in New Palestine and serve as a council board member and usher. I enjoy reading history, gardening, working on old cars, traveling, bee keeping, and doing masonry work.
• I have three sons – Ethan, Jacob and Joey.
